Here is a playlist of the stories gathered at the a day-long creativity boot camp – Flirting With The Arts – that I was part of on February 9, 2014. Just click the play button and all 15 of the stories will play back to back – don’t worry they’re short, 30 seconds … well almost.
Held at the Queen Street Commons Café, Queen Street, Kitchener, it was conceived and birthed by local artist Meg Leslie (MegLeslieCreative.com) and was sort of like those speed dating events. Groups of six creatives got to spend 30 minutes with an artist to learn about their practice; then they moved to next mini-workshop.
I got to spend half and hour with 5 groups to teach them the fundamentals of storytelling, write a script and record their stories on iPods loaded with iMovie. It was a high-energy whirlwind, but I was amazed how these folks stepped up and share these important moments in their lives.
